On Keith & Gail, Fox News' Goldberg claimed: "Jew haters used to come from the right. The anti-Semites these days are intellectuals on the left."
Appearing April 17 as a guest on Fox News Radio 600 KCOL's Mornings with Keith and Gail!, author and Fox News contributor Bernard Goldberg asserted that "[t]he new anti-Semitism is a wholly owned subsidiary of the American left," adding that "Jew haters used to come from the right. The anti-Semites these days are intellectuals on the left."
From the April 17 broadcast of Fox News Radio 600 KCOL's Mornings with Keith & Gail!:
GOLDBERG: You talk to a lot of people, and there are a lot of people out there, and I'll bet you there are some people listening to us right now who think that the most dangerous country in the world -- the source of most of the world's problems -- is Israel. I've dealt with these people, and it's troubling. It's troubling. Israel would love nothing more than to live in peace with all its Arab neighbors. Like, "Leave us alone; we would be more than happy to get out of your territory and leave you alone." But they're getting bombarded on a daily basis, and the sensitive left in this country -- the people who are always concerned about, you know, every humanitarian violation -- they don't seem to care when Israel's getting bombed. If some Israeli soldier looks cross-eyed at a Palestinian, they go nuts. But you don't hear a peep out of the academic left, which largely despises Israel. You don't hear a peep about violations of human rights in the Arab world from these people. But if Israel does something wrong, they send around petitions saying we should divest all our money from Israel. You know, hoping that Israel collapses as a result. You could be against Israel. Let me make this clear: You could be against Israel and not be an anti-Semite. OK? You can be against Israeli policies and not be an anti-Semite. But the new anti-Semitism is a wholly owned subsidiary of the American left. Jew haters used to come from the right. The anti-Semites these days are intellectuals on the left.
GAIL FALLEN (host): Bernie, and I don't know if you can boil it down to one thing, but I gotta tell you, I so enjoyed the book. I was equally amused and somewhat despondent in reading your book last night. I was laughing out loud and just shaking my head. Because the overwhelming question for me is: "Why has emotion trumped logic on so many levels? What's made the crazies on the left a party of -- you know, the Democratic Party -- a party of grievances? What's made them so angry? What's made conservatives so wimpy? Can you boil it down to one main thing?
