KHOW's Caplis again asserted that gay "conduct is not natural" and is "immoral"
During a discussion about same-sex adoption on his June 17 630 KHOW-AM broadcast, co-host Dan Caplis repeated his contention that gay "conduct is not natural," adding that "that conduct is immoral." Caplis' remarks about gay "conduct" echoed comments he made on his June 26, 2007, broadcast when he said, "Do people tell jokes about gay people because gay sex is not natural? Yes." Colorado Media Matters also has noted Caplis' past claim that "the vast majority of people" likely agreed with his belief that "the act [of homosexuality] itself is immoral."
From the June 17 broadcast of 630 KHOW-AM's The Caplis & Silverman Show:
SILVERMAN: It just makes sense to me that two people loving a child are better than one, and that very little of it has to do with our gender. If it was some male who I was married to who was able do that, and take the kids to baseball practice and things when I'm busy on the radio, to me that's a good thing. So, I would have it a little different hierarchy; I think it's unfair to a kid because if he has a single parent, one person only goes so far. They work heroically at it, but surely in your busy lifestyle you understand the argument I'm making.
CAPLIS: But there's much more involved than being a cab driver here. What's involved is what you're teaching the child and how you're influencing the child on a moral level and a lifestyle level. And again, you know, I'm a guy who has chosen to have gay roommates; I'm very happily heterosexual -- always have been. But I don't think less of gay people. I've had gay roommates by choice. I've hired gays; I represent gays; but the bottom line is, just as you've said, as most of the gay callers have said, they wouldn't want their kids to be gay. And beyond that, I am in that camp that believes that, as much as I respect those people, that that conduct is not natural. And that that conduct is immoral. It doesn't mean they're any more immoral than I am for some of the things that I've done, but to say as a matter of public policy we're gonna encourage situations where people are going to be raising children in an environment that the majority feels is immoral, I don't think we should put our public support there.

Caplis has hired gays, represente gays, and has gay roommates?
Wow, I had no idea! Why has he never mentioned this important factoid on the air?
I'm assuming this comment is facetious, since he has repeated this line probably as many times as he has said "in his humble opinion" (another one of his hypocritical comments) or how he used to say that Bush would go down in history has one of the greatest presidents ever.
I thought Caplis represented drunk drivers. Oh well. More of the same bigoted slop from this morally inferior boob. Good job CMM. Display this mutant for what he is.
Patronize: to behave towards (someone) in a way which is kind and friendly but which nevertheless shows that one thinks oneself to be more important, clever etc than that person.
I am stunned that Mr. Southside tough guy's picture wasn't next to this definition. Does he hire, defend, live with gays, etc., just so he can make these idiotic statements?
Dan's mighty disdain surely extends to copulation with domestic animals and with inanimate objects - how refreshing to be reminded - this logic takes us to the conclusion that ANY sex not directed to procreation is beastly and sinful (see Genesis ch 38).
Teehee, watta moron !
lol, JerryC, Caplis has distilled proper sexuality down to and said something like ‘insert tab A into slot B’, between a man and a woman, is the correct way, the natural way. A little TMI to know vanilla sex is all that Danny Boy is into, or presumably all that he approves of. He also made a vague comparison of two lesbians kissing at a baseball game to passing gas in public; and that both are wrong in public, rude, not considerate of others, and not showing basic decency. Real nice, Dan. You are the LAST person to say anything about rudeness and decency. Just because you are often slick and slippery in your approach doesn’t mean you should have anything to do with public airwaves with your comments.
Great point about patronizing, Skipdog. JMOHold the phone! Caplis just questioned a caller’s sincerity about having a son in the military, and said of sending other peoples’s sons and daughters to war(paraphrase); That if he is at a ball game or in public and sees a soldier buying a beer, that he likes to show ‘that their money’s no good here’. Caplis likes to show in subtle ways his support of the military in front of his kids, he says. Sure Caplis doesn’t want his own son to go to war, but it is his son’s decision, he says. But ‘your money’s no good here’ is an acceptable part of any answer regarding sending soldiers to their possible death?! What an arrogant elitist Caplis is. Just my opinion.
Hold the phone again! Today, Caplis says that he is confident that if he or Aimee had a couple of children out of wedlock before they met, he is confident that they would have still married/be together (paraphrase)….This is the same guy who said in the past that he was not confident that he would be with his wife if she wasn’t slender, before he dodged the issue entirely when Silverman asked him long ago, as I recall. He is a deceiver, has some ‘interesting’ priorities, or something I can’t quite figure out with his pronouncements. As always, he is completely dismissive of the fact that a teen pregnancy involving him or his wife would have changed the course of their lives completely. He concedes nothing….from the fact that there is no mention of God in the Constitution to his drivel just mentioned….very strange. At least Silverman was honest enough to say it could or would have made a difference has it happened to him or his wife. More proof that Dan ‘My life is an open book/I never lie’ Caplis is whacked, in my opinion.
It's just in the air. Anybody this downright patronizing, self indulgent and morally arrogant has something really big hidden in the old closet. Whether it's a "teen pregnancy, an illicit affair, a "scandal made gone", a backroom deal about to surface, who knows? But anybody that puts themselves on the pedestal sniffer sits on is just flat out asking to get their legs cut out from under them. No body's perfect and never's a long time. His two big "crusades" are his disgustingly homophobic anti gay platform and his insistence that a female have no choice concerning her own reproductive rights. If Haggard, Craig, and a dozen or more holier than thou loudmouths have shown us anything, it's that any time a creep points a finger, there's 3 more pointing back at him. Just sayin', this guy's got something to hide, and dollars to donuts it's about what he rails about most.....his two crusades. Like I said, never's a long time, and anybody sniffer's thrown under the bus has all day.
