KHOW's Caplis again asserted that gay "conduct is not natural" and is "immoral"

During a discussion about same-sex adoption on his June 17 630 KHOW-AM broadcast, co-host Dan Caplis repeated his contention that gay "conduct is not natural," adding that "that conduct is immoral." Caplis' remarks about gay "conduct" echoed comments he made on his June 26, 2007, broadcast when he said, "Do people tell jokes about gay people because gay sex is not natural? Yes." Colorado Media Matters also has noted Caplis' past claim that "the vast majority of people" likely agreed with his belief that "the act [of homosexuality] itself is immoral."

From the June 17 broadcast of 630 KHOW-AM's The Caplis & Silverman Show:

SILVERMAN: It just makes sense to me that two people loving a child are better than one, and that very little of it has to do with our gender. If it was some male who I was married to who was able do that, and take the kids to baseball practice and things when I'm busy on the radio, to me that's a good thing. So, I would have it a little different hierarchy; I think it's unfair to a kid because if he has a single parent, one person only goes so far. They work heroically at it, but surely in your busy lifestyle you understand the argument I'm making.

CAPLIS: But there's much more involved than being a cab driver here. What's involved is what you're teaching the child and how you're influencing the child on a moral level and a lifestyle level. And again, you know, I'm a guy who has chosen to have gay roommates; I'm very happily heterosexual -- always have been. But I don't think less of gay people. I've had gay roommates by choice. I've hired gays; I represent gays; but the bottom line is, just as you've said, as most of the gay callers have said, they wouldn't want their kids to be gay. And beyond that, I am in that camp that believes that, as much as I respect those people, that that conduct is not natural. And that that conduct is immoral. It doesn't mean they're any more immoral than I am for some of the things that I've done, but to say as a matter of public policy we're gonna encourage situations where people are going to be raising children in an environment that the majority feels is immoral, I don't think we should put our public support there.
