On KOA, Coulter again used the label "B. Hussein Obama"

Discussing the presidential race on the June 9 broadcast of Newsradio 850 KOA's The Jon Caldara Show, frequent guest and right-wing pundit Ann Coulter again referred to presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama as "B. Hussein Obama" -- a label she employs, as she has explained, "Because I think it's funny" and "precisely because it makes Democrats hysterical." In a response to Caldara, president of the "free-market" Independence Institute, Coulter also jokingly referred to Sen. Hillary Clinton as "the Devil."

From the June 9 broadcast of Newsradio 850 KOA's The Jon Caldara Show:

CALDARA: Who are you gonna pull the lever for?

COULTER: I'll vote straight Republican.

CALDARA: Really? Wait a second; pardon me for --

COULTER: You notice I can't even choke out his name.

[laughter]

CALDARA: Pardon me, but I could remember a quote, something like, "I'd sooner vote for the Devil than McCain." Was that you?

COULTER: Yeah, but I meant Hillary! [laughs] I think that was pretty obvious, Jon.

CALDARA: I'm sorry; I'm sorry.

COULTER: No, on the basis of an actual serious calculation of the three presidential candidates at that point, I did determine, and I think it is true, it's just not in the cards anymore that Hillary would be the best candidate.

CALDARA: If it was Hil --

COULTER: I've never said that about B. Hussein Obama. Because basically, I mean, in a nutshell -- not to go through this, 'cause there's no point, right now it's McCain and B. Hussein Obama. And who knows -- I mean, my general approach is not to take the position, which I know a lot of Republicans are considering right now, and for good reason, that things have to get worse before they get better.

As Colorado Media Matters noted, during a March 10 appearance on Caldara's KOA program, Coulter similarly referred to the Democratic presidential candidate as "B. Hussein Obama." Colorado Media Matters also pointed out that Coulter referenced Obama's middle name on the February 5 broadcast of 630 KHOW-AM's The Caplis & Silverman Show. When co-host Craig Silverman asked her if Obama's middle name was "relevant to anything," Coulter replied, "Yeah, I think so. I think it's a little strange. It would be like during World War II running a candidate named ... [Nazi Party deputy] Rudolf Hess or something. This might not be the right time."

Media Matters for America also has documented Coulter's persistent practice of using the name "B. Hussein Obama."
