"You are just another blowhard, make-believe thug": KOA's Newman asked if Obama would "try ... to whip my white ass"

Summary: Newsradio 850 KOA's "Gunny" Bob Newman labeled Sen. Barack Obama a "clown" and stated, "Son, you are not some sort of macho tough guy, trust me." Referring to Obama's statement that "these folks should lay off my wife," issued in response to a GOP ad mocking comments by Michelle Obama, Newman declared, "You're a far-left, terrorist-hugging politician, not the bad-boy gangsta you want people to believe you are."

Commenting on Sen. Barack Obama's response to a Tennessee Republican Party online ad targeting remarks by his wife, Michelle, Newsradio 850 KOA's "Gunny" Bob Newman on May 19 called the Democratic presidential candidate a "clown" and asked whether he is "some sort of a bad ass." Directly addressing Obama, Newman asked, "What are you gonna do, Obama, come to Denver and try, key word try, to whip my white ass?" Continuing, Newman said, "Son, you are not some sort of macho tough guy, trust me. You are just another blowhard, make-believe thug who wants to be the most powerful man on Earth. You're a far-left, terrorist-hugging politician, not the bad-boy gangsta you want people to believe you are."

As ABC News reported, in an interview aired on the May 19 broadcast of Good Morning America, Obama "called the GOP tactic 'low class' and 'detestable.' " ABC's online article further reported:

Michelle Obama was asked about the ad on "GMA," but her husband said, "Let me just interject on this."

"The GOP, should I be the nominee, I think can say whatever they want to say about me, my track record," Obama said. "I've been in public life for 20 years. I expect them to pore through everything that I've said, every utterance, every statement. And to paint it in the most undesirable light possible. That's what they do."

"But I do want to say this to the GOP. If they think that they're going to try to make Michelle an issue in this campaign, they should be careful. Because that I find unacceptable," he said.

Obama praised his wife's patriotism and said that for Republicans "to try to distort or to play snippets of her remarks in ways that are unflattering to her I think is just low class ... and especially for people who purport to be promoters of family values, who claim that they are protectors of the values and ideals and the decency of the American people to start attacking my wife in a political campaign I think is detestable."

From the May 19 broadcast of Newsradio 850 KOA's The Gunny Bob Show:

NEWMAN: Barack Obama goes off on the patriotic right and says he's a tough guy, and if ya challenge his wife, you better be careful. Oh, really? Barack Obama is threatening those who challenge his vile wife. Saying that conservatives better, quote, "lay off my wife," close quote, or else. He says those who take his wife to task, quote, "should be careful," close quote, because his wife's comments, his wife's beliefs, and his wife's complaints about this country are off-limits to public debate and scrutiny if it comes from, apparently, white conservatives. What is this clown now, some sort of a bad ass? What are you gonna do, Obama, come to Denver and try, key word try, to whip my white ass? Son, you are not some sort of macho tough guy, trust me. You are just another blowhard, make-believe thug who wants to be the most powerful man on Earth. You're a far-left, terrorist-hugging politician, not the bad-boy gangsta you want people to believe you are. Listen, sonny, why don't you grow a spine, and at least one cojone, and accept one of the many invitations I have extended for you to appear on The Gunny Bob Show, heard in 38 states, many of which are rather important to your election plan? Oh, and if you ever do muster the courage to do so, we will definitely be talking about your wife and her myriad personal problems.
