Boyles on Bardot's anti-Muslim remarks: "I love her more now than I did when I was 15 years old"

After reading from what apparently was an April 15 Reuters article stating that French actress Brigitte Bardot was charged for the fifth time with "inciting racial hatred" over her "controversial remarks about Islam and its followers," Peter Boyles exclaimed on his April 23 630 KHOW-AM broadcast, "I love her more now than I did when I was 15 years old."

Boyles has his own history of making on-air remarks attacking Muslims. As Colorado Media Matters has noted, during a discussion about worldwide Muslim immigration on his May 14, 2007, broadcast, Boyles smeared Islamic culture as "corrupt" and agreed with a caller who stated, "That is one culture I do not want to be associated with." He also has supported U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo's (R) comment that the United States could "take out" Islamic holy sites if "fundamentalist Muslims" attacked American cities with nuclear weapons; agreed with a caller's suggestions that the United States should bar "Islamic immigration" and that Islam should be declared "a political ideology"; and asserted, "I don't think that there's friendly Muslim nations out there by any stretch of the imagination."

As Reuters reported, "French former film star Brigitte Bardot went on trial on Tuesday for insulting Muslims, the fifth time she has faced the charge of 'inciting racial hatred' over her controversial remarks about Islam and its followers." The article continued:

Prosecutors asked that the Paris court hand the 73-year-old former sex symbol a two-month suspended prison sentence and fine her 15,000 euros ($23,760) for saying the Muslim community was "destroying our country and imposing its acts".

Since retiring from the film industry in the 1970s, Bardot has become a prominent animal rights activist but she has also courted controversy by denouncing Muslim traditions and immigration from predominantly Muslim countries.

She has been fined four times for inciting racial hatred since 1997, at first 1,500 euros and most recently 5,000.

From the April 23 broadcast of 630 KHOW-AM's The Peter Boyles Show:

BOYLES: Let me read you this (reading): "Brigitte Bardot on trial for Muslim slur. Former French" -- excuse me -- "French former film star" -- too many F's in a row -- "Brigitte Bardot went on trial for insulting Muslims, the fifth time she's faced the charge of 'inciting racial hatred' over her controversial remarks about Islam and its followers." Now, always keep in the back of your head -- Douglas Bruce. Always stay in mind, Douglas Bruce. "Prosecutors have asked the French court to hand the 73-year-old former sex symbol a suspended prison sentence and fine her 15,000 euros." Maybe we'll be saying that someday here, Ameros. A.K.A., 23,700 -- 23,760 bucks. And this is what she had the audacity to say: "The Muslim community is destroying our country (laughs) and imposing its acts." Can you see somebody saying, "You know what? These illegals are destroying our country and imposing their acts." You're going to jail. Oh, we'll get it suspended; pay us $24,000. "Since retiring from the film industry in the '70s, Bardot has become an activist, denouncing Muslim traditions and immigration from predominantly Muslim countries. She has already been fined" -- I love her more now than I did when I was 15 years old -- "she's been fined four times for inciting racial hatred since 1997. First time 1500 euros, and most recently 5,000 euros."
