KHOW guest host Pate on Muslims: "It's a violent community ... They have honor killings ... [T]hey will kill their own wives; they will kill their own daughters"
On the August 8 broadcast of 630 KHOW-AM's The Peter Boyles Show, guest host Lou Pate joined a caller in denigrating Muslims and the Islamic faith. Pate asserted that Muslims "don't respect women at all" and joked that "they're a peaceful, benevolent, kind people, the Muslims are ... [I]f they like you, they'll cut your head off with one swing instead of a jagged edge that takes seven or eight." Pate also agreed with the caller's description of the Muslim community as "a sick race"; said the "Muslim community ... [is] a violent community," adding, "They have honor killings ... that they condone. They will kill ... their own wives; they will kill their own daughters"; and claimed that "genital mutilation [is] quite common there."
As Colorado Media Matters noted, while guest-hosting the January 26 broadcast of Newsradio 850 KOA's The Gunny Bob Show, Pate also repeatedly denigrated Muslims, claiming that Islam is "a violent religion" that "condones the killing of innocents." Colorado Media Matters has also documented a trend of anti-Muslim rhetoric by other Clear Channel Communications media personalities in Colorado, including KHOW hosts Peter Boyles and Dan Caplis, and Newsradio 850 KOA hosts "Gunny" Bob Newman and Mike Rosen.

PATE: Good morning. Thanks for holding. How can I help you?
CALLER: Well, we're dealing with the Muslim world today.
PATE: Mm-hmm.
CALLER: Would you say that's right?
PATE: I would say we are dealing with the problem of the Muslim world today, yes.
CALLER: OK, there you go. They're not necessarily too keen on women.
PATE: No, they don't respect women at all.
CALLER: I don't think we want a president over there running around in a burqa.
PATE: Do you realize --
CALLER: For the same reason, you don't see too many high-ranking female officers over there who leave military bases and go into the civilian sector because they, even if they were a colonel, or a light, or a --
PATE: They still have to wear the garb.
CALLER: That's right. And [unintelligible] --
PATE: I've got a problem with that. Just for the record, [caller], I've got a problem with that.
CALLER: OK.
PATE: I wouldn't -- you know, I, I almost wish I was a female just so I could join up and walk around that town in, in western clothing. I, you know --
CALLER: It wouldn't happen.
PATE: I, I, I would do it. They'd have to throw me in jail.
CALLER: They would.
PATE: Because it's just a shame that our, our, our military --
CALLER: And our government would back them up.
PATE: -- our female military officers have to wear that crap.
CALLER: Well, they're not too keen on blacks either, unless, of course, they are a Muslim.
PATE: No, they are not.
CALLER: So, there you go.
PATE: But, but, but, [caller], they're a peaceful, benevolent, kind people, the Muslims are.
CALLER: Sure they are.
PATE: [laughs] As -- but, you know what? If they like you, they'll cut your head off with one swing instead of a jagged edge that takes seven or eight.
CALLER: Well, you might, you might remember -- who is it? Mr. Khrushchev --
PATE: Mm-hmm.
CALLER: -- said, "We won't fire a shot; we'll kill you from within."
PATE: Right. Right. Well --
CALLER: We have the enemy within with Muslim community. Hell, there's over 400,000 of them in Detroit.
PATE: So you think that the Muslim community -- well, they, look, look: Muslim community it, it's a violent community. They have honor killings --
CALLER: They back their brothers.
PATE: -- that they, that they condone. They will kill, they will kill their own wives; they will kill their own daughters.
CALLER: They mutilite, or mutilate their own females.
PATE: And genital, sexual genital mutilation quite common there.
CALLER: Right, it's a sick race.
PATE: Yes.
CALLER: And that's my final comment.
PATE: It -- well, it's a religion. It's not a race, it's a religion. But thank you, [caller], that's a good point.

I'd like to see Mr. Pate "join up and walk around that town" in women's clothing. A little "sexual genital mutilation" might do him some good if he's that hot be a woman. Its a "sick race" alright and your a part of it Mr. Pate.
Over 1400 women a year are murdered by their spouse or boyfriend.
Over 572,000 police reports of physical abuse against women annually, and these are just the incidents reported.
132,000 reports of rape or attempted rape against women.
25% of pregnant women physically assaulted by the baby's father.
Seven percent of girls in grades five to eight and twelve percent of girls in grades nine through twelve and said they had been sexually abused.
These are VERY startling numbers, and they are not from a predominantly Muslim country but from the United States.
Perhaps people should worry about the sickness in their own backyards before casting aspersions on others.
How would you feel if an ARAB or a MUSLIM made that same statement with our oun statistics to back up his claims?
If your house is made of glass, don't through stones at people!
Islam and culture are two different things. People who perform honor killing are not only guilty in the Islamic faith; they are punishable by depth!
Read up about Islam, the culture of people who perform this honor killing, and how committed to the religion rather their tribal habits.
Before electing to use your right of speech, try looking at other people's rights first. Then looks at how politics and the media are distorting facts about the Islamic world, and after you have done that and you still believe that the true Islamic culture demeans women and don't respect them, look at our own culture and see how it demeans women in all respects. Just look at any advertisement or magazine and see how women are exploited for the sole purpose of sales.
Then look at the staggering numbers of assaults, murder, rape, sexual abuse, and sexually associated crimes in our own culture before announcing your own claims and personal believes to the public.
I would like to say that Americans should clean out their own back door, before cleaning off someone elses. I was at home for a few weeks for my daughters wedding. The whole time I was there, the only thing I heard was women being killed by their husbands. Lets not even talk about the molestation of small children, and their disappearances. Please before talking about others and their religion, please for God's sake, look at the statics right in your own back yard. I hate to say it, but the caller and the radio host sound most ignorant.
Here's the difference TMONAL, our government, federal, state, county and municipal, and our society at large come down on sexual predators and those who abuse women like the wrath of God. Once a sexual predator is on the registry, there is no place he can hide, his wherabouts are tracked constantly, he is under a microscope for the rest of his life.
In the Islamic world, however, women are treated little better than cattle. A man can have muliple wives. In most Islamic cultures they are forced to wear burquas that cover all but their face, even all but their eyes. The word of one man is equal to that of two women. A woman can (and often is) stoned for adultery. If a young girl is raped, she has dishonered her family and their honor can only be restored by killing her. Mohammed himself endorsed wife beating. He married six year old Aisha and conusmated the marriage when she was nine. All of this is in the Koran, it is not right wing propaganda.
You say politics and the media are distorting facts about the Islamic world. Where is this happening? Give an example. If anything, the media falls all over itself to cover up the fact that the perpetrators of the latest terrorist attack are Muslims - witness the "South Asians" who committed the London tube attacks, the "doctors" who were unsucsessfull in Glasgow, the "disaffected youths" who burned the thousands of cars in France. The media is too politically correct to come out and use the "M" word even thought the public isn't stupid enough to believe that Quakers might be behind the violence.
The bottom line is, our culture punishes those who commit these crimes. Too often their culture encourages them.
